who am i – Victoria Jane McKenna

Thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoy the fashion I am bringing to you. But why does the brand exist? Here is my story.

Born in the 80’s, I was quite a naughty child, very artistic and quite sensitive. I never actually ‘knew’ what I wanted from life for a very long time, not until 2014 anyway. From leaving university, I followed a path into the world of Telecoms sales, which was the start of a long, enjoyable career, finishing up as a Project Manager, which I loved. As a young adult, for years I dreamt and spoke of designing clothes for women but didn’t have the faith to bring it to fruition. I learnt how to power dress in a corporate world and became obsessed with waistcoats (I still am to this day) and looking serious, but with an edge.

In 2014, life changed when after a period of stress, I had a stroke. Life stopped, I lost my career and it took a total of two years to properly recover, with heart surgery thrown in. If ever there is a time to take a long hard look at yourself, it is during a period of enforced downtime and when there’s no certainty you’ll pull through. But no time for sympathy, because it was then that I realised I had been given a second chance. Life was still upside down with divorce and a lot of upheaval going on, but this whole period was the making of me.

So, the brand was born. I registered the name and started the journey. It’s not been easy, and gaining respect and customers is always a privilege and I’m always grateful when I connect with someone new.

Behind The Style

The silk blouses in the Classic and Limited Edition collections have been designed by me with a London based team. Made in London, they are exquisite with beautiful chiffon and silk georgette sourced from a Manchester supplier. No expense has been spared in the production of the Limited Edition blouses, with the highly polished zips coming from Milan, having gone through a colour matching process to sit beautifully next to the Wisteria silk.

Inspiration for the blouses originally came from my love of vintage Dior images and the celebration of the hourglass shape. My experience of that feeling of loss after the 2014 health event, promoted the pursuit of the first collection and the motivation driving the brand is ‘every cloud has a silver lining’. The Limited Edition Collection is my ‘Silver Linings’ collection.

Although silk is delicate and beautiful, it is also breathable and very wearable. Embrace the Annie or Audrey blouses with trousers or a skirt for work or meet the ladies for a fizzy afternoon in the simple Freya teamed with a fitted blazer. These work for you whatever you are doing.
